I had to go to Dr. Thomas' office tonight. They are doing a sleep study on me before my back surgery. They have a big ol' bed for me and nice other bed for Momma. Pop will be back in the morning to pick us up. I'm gonna have fun with this!

January 26, 2010

We visited Dr. Bruno today. I had to have a urinalysis done. It has something to do with my back surgery. Anyhow, Nurse Sherry tried to a sample from me but I had just done my business and wasn't giving any more up for the moment. She sent Dr. Bruno in and he and Momma talked about the surgery and some other stuff. Nurse Sherry came back and voila! There was her sample. Am I good or what????

We met Dr. Scott Williams today. He's my new nephrologist. He is really nice. I didn't kick him too bad. He told Momma that he wanted to start me on Calcium and Vitamin D supplements. He said with me not standing and all that I needed these to make my bones stronger. I hope they don't taste too bad. He also sent us over to a place that took a picture of my kidneys. I think Momma called it an ultrasound. I didn't even have to get out of my chair. We were done super quick!

Today we saw Dr. Thomas. He talked to Momma about my sleep study results. He said something about me having brain hiccups 240 times during the study. I sure don't remember that. He also told Momma to stop my vent sprints (darn it!) until after I recover from my back surgery. After Dr. Thomas' appointment, we headed down to the lab so they could get some blood for some tests for Dr. Williams. I did real good. The lab ladies were very impressed with how good I did!

Today we head to New Orleans for my back surgery. We had to leave at 5AM! I was sleeping. I didn't have to drive... *grin* You can read about my hospital stay here: CHNOLA

Ms Amy and Mr Ted came to the hospital to see me today! I was really happy to see them. Ms Amy brought me a puppy dog that had a blue jean jacket on. I named him Mr. Ruff. He has a red heart on his shirt that has "I Ruff Ya!" on it. That is so funny... *GRIN* I really like Ms Amy and Mr Ted. They are soooo nice!

We went to see Dr. Bruno today. Momma thinks I have thrush in my mouth. It has a filmy stuff on it. It gets on lips too. Dr. Bruno gave me a prescription for Nystatin. I hope it doesn't taste too bad. Momma also asked him about my gagging sometimes. She asked if my stomach medicine might not be working or if I needed a bigger dose. I am older now... *grin* He said he could give me a different medicine, Nexium. We try it for a while. He's a good doctor.

Today I started taking my new seizure medicine, Levetiracetam (Keppra). Dr. Flatt's nurse called Momma and told her to start giving it to me. After that big ol' seizure after my back surgery, I don't want to have another one!

February 22, 2010

We went to see Dr. Accousti today. We drove all the way to New Orleans to see him. One of his assistants took the staples out of my back. Boy, did that feel good! Dr. Accousti said I looked really good! He also told Momma she could give me 1/2 of the vitamin tablets. They are adult strength and she was worried about over doing it. We had a good trip! I laughed nearly all the way home. : )

Uncle Chad stopped by to visit today. He was on his way home from New Orleans. I was so glad to see him. I kicked alot. He visited with Momma and Pop too!

We went to see Dr. Thomas today. He said I could do vent sprints again and with my speaking valve. It's called a Passy-Muir valve. Here is some information on it: Passy-Muir When the therapists put me on my valve at Dr. Thomas' office, I talked and talked. As soon as Dr. Thomas walked in, I stopped. Momma can't figure it out and I'm not telling... *grin*

I got weighed today! I'm now a big ol' 26.6 kg (58.52 lbs) and 43.5 inches tall!

We went to the Homebound Program Easter Party today. It was lots of fun. I hunted eggs in the playground and we ate lots of good food and played some games. It was fun! I got my first kite there too! Momma hung it by my bed in the den so I can look at all the cool colors!!!

My Gramma Walker came to see me today!!!! She gave me lots of hugs and kisses and I gave her lots of slobber and giggles. She noticed how much I had grown. She brought all kinds of goodies too! She brought a red devil that plays "Hot Blooded" and his pitchfork spins and shows words. She brought me all kinds of cool clothes and some really neat sandals. I just love my Gramma and Grampa Walker! I wish Grampa could have come too. I sent him lots of love tho!

I got weighed today! I'm now a big ol' 27.3 kg (60.06 lbs) and still 43.5 inches tall. Look out world, I'm growing and glowing!
